167 - Orthodoxy and the Death Penalty
March 17, 2011 Length: 33:25
On March 9, 2011 the Governor of Illinois signed a law banning the death penalty in his state, commuting the death sentence of 15 prisoners on death row. In the current episode of The Illumined Heart, Fr Peter-Michael Preble, a staunch anti-death penalty advocate, and host Kevin Allen discuss the pros and cons of capital punishment from an Orthodox perspective. Fr.Peter references the book Contemporary Moral Issues Facing The Orthodox Christian by Fr. Stanley Harakas.
"It brings peace to an otherwise chaotic day. When I find myself at wits-end, I go to the Internet, plug in my earphones and listen to Ancient Faith Radio. While I feel overwhelmed with work issues, and often am close to tears, the sounds of Orthodoxy soothe my soul and bring me peace so I can take a deep breath and continue on with the rest of my work day!"
