There are few things more embarrassing than having someone learn about a terrible thing you’ve said about him or her. And, of course, the most humiliating thing about it is that you know you shouldn’t have said that thing in the first place. So what do you do now?

Abba Or says,

If you have spoken evil of your brother, and you are stricken with remorse, go and kneel down before him and say: ‘I have spoken badly of you; let this be my surety that I will not spread this slander any further.’ For detraction is death to the soul.

It’s hard to admit when we’re wrong, but it’s the only way to be truly restored to a person.

"AFR was a major help in my conversion to Orthodoxy from Anglicanism. After so many years of wandering in the desert of the worldly conflicts consuming the Anglican Church, I am now at home in the Church as Our Lord intends it to be. Thank you so very much for this wonderful work you are doing. Thank you for helping me and others find our way to the Orthodox Faith. "
