Nov 03 - Holy Virgin Martyr Winefride Of Treffynnon, Wales
November 02, 2009 Length: 1:00
Transcript
Saint Winefride was a maiden of noble birth who lived in North Wales in the 7th Century. The niece and spiritual daughter of St. Beuno, she entered the monastery of Gwytherin after her death where she lived under the spiritual direction of St. Elryl. The son of the neighboring Chieftain, Caradoc by name, ceased by an unchaste passion, pursued her and struck off her head with a sword. The spot where her head fell became known as Teffynnon or Holywell because of the appearing of a healing spring for those who would take his water with faith. Holywell remains a great place of pilgrimage in Britain to this very day.
"It is my major contact with Orthodoxy. We are in the process of starting an Orthodox church and have no regular services yet. I am also a traveling salesman and listen in my motel room. Thank you!"
