Conversations With Our Bishops: Interviews on the nature and work of the Assembly of BishopsThe twelve-member Secretariat of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of North and Central America (assemblyofbishops.org/about/secretariat) meets via teleconference each month to oversee the work of the Assembly’s thirteen Committees and its Endorsed Agencies and to initiate new projects in accordance with the Decision and Regulations promulgated by the Fourth Pre-Conciliar Pan-Orthodox Conference at Chambésy scoba.us/resources/chambesy_documents.html). One of the important responsibilities assigned to the Secretariat is the creation of avenues by which the work of the Assembly may be communicated to the Orthodox Christians of our region - the priests, deacons, monastics, lay men and lay women. In so doing the Secretariat has initiated two new projects for the Assembly: (1.) a soon-to-be announced, over-arching Communications Program being developed by Mr. Alex Machaskee (retired publisher, president and CEO of Cleveland’s major newspaper “The Plain Dealer”), and (2.) “Conversations With Our Bishops,” a series of audio interviews of the Assembly’s fifty-three member hierarchs by Archpriest Josiah Trenham (proïstamenos of St Andrew Church in Riverside, CA, Ancient Faith Radio podcast host of “The Arena”, and director of “Patristic Nectar Publications”) for the purpose of providing a broad swath of perspectives to the Church-at-large on the significance and work of the Assembly. Today, this latter project - “CONVERSATIONS WITH OUR BISHOPS: Hierarchical interviews on the nature and work of the Assembly of Bishops” - is being inaugurated with the posting of the first five interviews. 12 episodes |
